Premier League viewership among US adults aged 18-34 is up 20% this season, according to Nielsen Sports data released in October. The increase follows the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which Nielsen described as a “powerful catalyst” for the Premier League's broader reach in the US.
NBC and USA Network are averaging around 500,000 viewers per Premier League match, up 3% from last season. Viewership on USA Network alone has increased 8%.
Including Spanish-language coverage, overall Premier League viewership in the US is up 30% this season. The figures show growth among younger viewers as well as across the league's wider US audience.
How Much Has Premier League Viewership Increased in the US?
Tottenham Hotspur's match against Newcastle United on August 29 drew more than 1 million US viewers, making it the most-watched Premier League broadcast in the country so far this season.
Tottenham featured in three of the six most-watched Premier League games in the US this season, according to Nielsen Sports data. Their matches against Newcastle United, Brentford, and Everton all made the list.
Which Matches and Audiences Are Driving Premier League US Viewership Growth?
The World Cup has also helped broaden the Premier League's US audience. Jon Stainer, global GM at Nielsen Sports, described the tournament as a “powerful catalyst” that expanded the league's reach across a broader demographic.
He said fandom was reaching record highs and growing rapidly among younger and diverse audiences, with the interest carrying into major domestic and international leagues.
NBC Sports had identified World Cup viewers as potential new Premier League fans before the season began.
Pierre Moossa, the coordinating producer for NBC's Premier League coverage, said the network expected a whole influx of new people sampling for the first time and wanted every moment of its coverage to hook them.
"Every moment of our show has to count because you don't know when people are sampling it and when you might hook them."
The early ratings point to continued interest among viewers who became more curious about soccer during the World Cup.
How Does 2026-27 Premier League US Viewership Compare With Previous Seasons?
In 2023-24, the Premier League averaged 546,000 viewers per match window on NBC and USA Network, a record at the time. The figure fell to 510,000 in 2024-25 before recovering to 535,000 in 2025-26, the second-highest season average on record.
The early 2026-27 figures point to continued growth from an already strong base rather than a rebound from a low point. High-profile fixtures continue to attract large US audiences.
On April 19, 2026, Manchester City's 2-1 win over Arsenal averaged 2.6 million viewers across NBC, Peacock, Telemundo and NBC Sports Digital platforms, making it the most-watched Premier League match in US history.
The Premier League's US growth is part of a broader rise in soccer interest. Major League Soccer has also seen increased interest among younger US audiences, with Nielsen reporting a 23% rise among 16-34-year-olds.
The early data suggests the World Cup's impact on US soccer interest could extend beyond the Premier League.
